NHS Innovations South West - Innovation in Medical Practice through Applied Knowledge Transfer
As a Centre of Innovation and Training in Elective Care (CITEC) we have been exploring the ways by which innovation can enhance patient care across the local health community. We have made an exciting partnership with NHS Innovations South West to help us in this regard.
The key words for NHS Innovations South West are ‘innovation’ and ‘knowledge’. NHS Innovations South West have recognised that there is a pool, or wealth, of good ideas within each NHS organisation. As a result they decided to create a process that could bring out the best and most creative ideas and enable them to be put into practice. Within the South West region Impakt are the innovation hub or host organisation.
Using investment from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Health they have enlisted Pera, an organisation dedicated managing innovative ideas on behalf of the Government, to provide a focus point for innovators in the South West.
NHS Innovations South West are training Trust based Innovation Leaders, or TILs, who will work with the NHS, and the commercial sector to make things happen around your idea. They ensure that everyone benefits from your ideas: the NHS, the commercial company that adopts it, and, of course, you the patient. If you have any ideas that you think could benefit patient care please contact the Trust’s TIL.
The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement
The NHS Institute was established in 2005. It aims to support the NHS with high-impact solutions to some of its biggest challenges, as well as innovative ideas, new practices and technologies that will really make a difference to the delivery of patient care.
The mission of the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement is to improve health outcomes and raise the quality of delivery in the NHS by accelerating the uptake of proven innovation and improvements in healthcare delivery models and processes, medical products and devices and healthcare leadership.
At any one time, the Institute will be working on several Priority Programmes agreed with NHS leaders and the Department of Health. They will be updated on a regular basis. The current priorities are:
- No Delays (18 Week Wait)
